What is RetroSpace?
What RetroSpace is: the AURORA fleet, the sentient black hole, Aurora 5's two timelines, and why it plays as an immersive sim rather than a shooter.

Read →Updated 2026-09-26RetroSpace is a first-person immersive sim from The Wild Gentlemen, published by Kwalee. It launches on October 1, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, and a public demo has been playable since June 11, 2026.
You are the Nameless Man — a janitor aboard Aurora 5, one of the huge city-stations of the AURORA fleet. The station has been swallowed by a sentient black hole. Its corridors are infested with mutants, its systems are jammed, and the ship keeps jumping back and forth between two points in time. You are the only crew member still walking.
What this site is
This is an unofficial fan resource. It exists to make RetroSpace's systems legible — what Mutamods™ do to your character, why dying is a mechanic instead of a fail state, how enemy behaviour is meant to be read instead of memorised, and how Aurora 5's shortcuts open up as you push deeper.
Nothing here is datamined, and nothing is invented. Every page cites the store description, the developer's own announcements or the public demo, and each page ends with a short list of what is still unconfirmed until the launch build is playable.
The three systems that decide your run
| System | What it changes | Where to read up |
|---|---|---|
| Mutamods™ | Body mutations that upgrade stealth, combat, exploration and mobility — with side effects that are described as unexpected and irreversible | Mutamods explained |
| Death and cloning | Dying spawns a fresh clone; the corpse has to be reached again to recover gear and genes, and cloning is never perfect | Death, cloning and rebirth |
| Station routing | Aurora 5 is interconnected: shortcuts, alternate paths and hidden areas open from a central hub as you explore | Aurora 5 station layout |
How the game wants to be played
Every obstacle is meant to have multiple solutions. Sneak past it, hack it, create a diversion, lure something into a trap, find the hidden route — or fight, and learn what each enemy does before you do.
That is why this site is organised around systems rather than a linear walkthrough: a RetroSpace walkthrough that only lists rooms would be obsolete the moment you choose the other door.
Before launch
The demo is the only build anyone outside the studio can play right now, and it has already received two large updates. If you want to be useful on day one, play the demo and get used to the PDA, the inventory and the wrench before the station gets harder.
